The Brief

A 200-year legacy, ready to sell online

Sinhapitiya Estate in Gampola has been growing since 1824, when it became the first coffee plantation in Ceylon under George Bird. Its new retail brand, Herb & Bean, needed a website that honours that heritage while making it easy to buy premium teas, coffee and spices online.

The site also had to handle wholesale and trade enquiries, tell the estate’s story in a way that builds trust, and create a content foundation for organic search.

What I Built

Heritage storytelling meets modern e-commerce

Heritage Brand Story

A rich About and Estate History experience that brings the 1824 George Bird legacy to life, positioning Herb & Bean as a premium, authentic Ceylon brand.

WooCommerce Store

An online shop for artisanal teas, heritage coffee and organically grown spices, organised into clear categories with a smooth cart and checkout.

Wholesale Enquiry Form

A topic-based enquiry form for wholesale supply, retail questions, heritage research and feedback, so every message reaches the estate team with context.

Blog & SEO Content

Story-driven articles on heritage, midland microclimates and ancestral farming that build topical authority and bring in organic search traffic.

Elegant, Earthy Design

Classic serif typography, full-bleed estate photography and a natural colour palette that reflect the character of a historic plantation.

Mobile-first & Responsive

Every page, product and form is fully responsive, giving shoppers a smooth experience on phones, tablets and desktops.

Growth Ready

A foundation built for growth

Beyond launch, the website is set up to grow with the brand. Clear shop and enquiry paths turn visitors into customers, while structured content gives search engines plenty to rank.
